The Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking Association was formed
by four lumberjacking colleges with the purpose of providing a
venue for all members to participate in a series of competitions.
With the exception of a select few, most events and rules are
identical at all competitions, allowing the teams to tally points
over the season, and the opportunity of becoming the C.I.L.A.
Champions for that year. New member institutions are very welcome.
There are six schools currently registered as C.I.L.A. members:
Algonquin
College
Maritime College of Forest Technology
McGill University
Nova Scotia Agricultural
College
Sir Sandford Fleming
College
University of New
Brunswick
The first competition of the
season is hosted by the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton,
New Brunswick. The second, hosted by Sir Sandford Fleming College
is held in Lindsay, Ontario, usually during the second weekend
of November. At the end of January, Macdonald Campus of McGill
University hosts the third competition of the C.I.L.A. season
in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec. The fourth and final competition
is hosted by Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Truro, Nova Scotia.
All competitions are held outdoors with the exception of N.S.A.C.’s
which takes place in an arena.
